![]() Tuesday, 13th Feb 2007 17:16 Town's reserves beat their Luton counterparts 1-0 at Playford Road on Monday afternoon. Kieran Leabon scored the winner in the first half. The Blues fielded Irish trialist Vinny Faherty, whilst Luton named two first-teamers in Richard Langley and Adam Boyd in their line-up. Faherty had a chance to open the scoring for Town on eight minutes. Ed Upson's drive was blocked and the ball fell to the Irish striker whose shot from six yards out was also blocked for a corner. Luton, coached by former Blue Steve Sedgley, were forced into a substitution on 26 minutes when Russell Preston lost out in a 50-50 challenge for the ball with Town's Kieran Leabon. Matthew Kenneford replaced Preston up front. A minute later, Luton had their keeper Dean Brill to thank for keeping the scores level. Jordan Rhodes had drawn a foul from Luton trialist Sheku Kamara before Sito hit a shot that was flying towards the top corner until Brill got a hand to it and tipped it over his bar. Five minutes later and Town were ahead. This time Kamara was booked after a foul on Rhodes and Jai Reason's free kick was met by Kieran Leabon who came sliding in at the back post. Leabon himself was booked a few minutes later for what the referee perceived as a dive. Liam Trotter hit the bar with a header in the second half but not many chances were created by either side. Nikos Salapatas was booked in the second half for a late challenge on Town left-back Kurt Robinson. Sito had a quiet game at right-back, whilst Ed Upson and Jai Reason controlled the midfield, both having good games. Trialist Vinny Faherty showed some good touches but tired in the second half.
