Boss Jim Magilton felt a draw was the right result after David Wright's second half goal won the Blues a point in the East Anglian derby at Carrow Road. Dickson Etuhu had given the Canaries ta first half lead.

Magilton said: "I think Norwich started the game a lot better than us and deserved to be in front.

"In fact, I was desperate for the half-time whistle so I could get the lads into the dressing room and have a little chat with them.

"We didn't have any rhythm and we weren't using the ball well. In this game you have got to earn the right to play and we didn't do that in the early stages, but credit to the lads for the way they played in the second half.

"We got on the ball, created chances and managed to put one away. I'm delighted for David Wright because he had been given a tough time by Darren Huckerby in the first half and came back very well.

"Overall, it was a good fight back for the team but, on the overall balance of play, I don't think we deserved to win it and I thought 1-1 was about right."

Norwich manager Peter Grant felt his side ought to have won: "I thought that game summed up our season as a whole; we just can't seem to kill teams off.

"We got an early goal and then created a lot of chances, we just couldn't put them away. When the game's at 1-0 the opposition have always got a chance and so it's proved.

"I think Ipswich must have been delighted to have only been one down at the interval but, according to them, they played a lot better in the second half and probably deserve to come away with a point."

Grant says that several of his players hadn't trained prior to the match due to injuries: "A lot of the lads hadn't trained in the lead-up to the game, but I felt it was the right decision to throw them in.

"I think that was a factor in us losing a little bit of zest towards the end and I accept responsibility for that because it was a gamble I decided to take.”
