Town are understood to be amongst crisis club Boston United's many creditors. Shareholders in the Pilgrims and the club's creditors have agreed in principle to a deal which could prevent the League Two side from going out of business.

Boston owe a total of more than £3 million to scores of creditors with the club's holding company Lavaflow owed £1.4 million and the HM Revenue and Customs £1 million.

Town's debt is £7,005.68, which presumably relates to the proportion of defender Ian Miller's wages Boston were expected to pay during his time on loan with Steve Evans's side. Miller spent just over two months at York Street between November and January.

The rescue plan would see the Pilgrims' creditors receive around 50% of their cash. The deal will be formally agreed after the club's divisional status becomes clear with the 10-point penalty for going into administration likely to kick in next season. The Lincolnshire club currently sit two points away from League Two safety with two games left to play.

Former Leeds chairman Gerald Krassner chaired a meeting of creditors on Wednesday afternoon and announced the agreement: "Although there's been no formal vote, we had an indication that there is a sufficient majority of both creditors and shareholders to support this arrangement and allow football to continue in Boston."

Also among Boston's creditors are Glasgow Rangers, Middlesbrough, Birmingham City, Peterborough United, Bradford City, Chester City, Portsmouth, Lincolnshire Police Authority, the British Red Cross and The Groin and Hernia Clinic.
