Short, who joined the Town youth set-up in 2005 from Cambridge United, played for the Hatters reserves in a 3-2 victory over Oxford United at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday. Meanwhile, former academy midfielder Ashley Nicholls has been released by Conference side Grays Athletic. Ex-Town reserves skipper Justin Miller has been let go by League One Leyton Orient.
