Jim: No Pressure to Sell
Jim: No Pressure to Sell

Boss Jim Magilton says he is under no pressure to sell any of his first teamers over the summer. Speculation had suggested that Alan Lee might be on his way out during the close season, but Magilton doesn't expect any surprise departures before the start of 2007/08

Magilton said: “I am under no pressure to sell anybody this summer. There is no danger of any player leaving the club who I want to stay as I feel I have the basis on which to build a successful squad.”

However, the Blues boss concedes that he might trade members of his squad if it helps him to land the new signings he is targeting: “If it means the difference between bringing in the right player or not I will go down the road of listening to offers.”

Magilton is keen to get his new signings into the club as soon as possible with keeper Richard Wright expected to be the summer's first new recruit, the ex-Town man returning to the Blues on a free transfer from Everton. Town are likely to hear whether Blackburn want to keep Franny Jeffers next week.

Striker Dean Bowditch is another player many have tipped for a Portman Road exit over the summer, but Magilton says he will assess the former England U19 international's position after pre-season, which starts on June 12th.

Brighton are already reported to be interested in taking Bowditch on loan next season, the last before his Town contract expires. The 20-year-old was due to return to the Seagulls on loan in January but a groin injury kept him out of action for most of the season half of the season.
