![]() Friday, 11th May 2007 10:50 North Stander Malcolm Thompson is planning a 45-mile charity run from his home in Haverhill to Portman Road ahead of Town's final game of 2007/08. The 45-year-old is out to raise funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Thompson says he is by no means an experienced runner: “I've never even run for a bus before. The last time I got any serious exercise was in PE lessons at school. And that was 25 odd years ago! Now I'm getting up every day at 5am to go for a run before work and I've had to knock the beer on the head. I must be mad! ”The hard work will all be worthwhile if I succeed in raising £5,000 for the MS Society. My friend and ex-Ipswich Town and England footballer Kevin Beattie's wife Maggie sadly suffers from MS and the charity has been a constant support ever since. “I will be running to Hintlesham Hall on the day before the game and will stay overnight to recover before completing the final few miles to the ground on match day.” To donate, visit Malcolm's website.
