Testimonial for Fab Wednesday, 16th May 2007 22:01 Defender Fabian Wilnis has told a Dutch football magazine that he has been awarded a testimonial as part of his new one-year deal with Town. The Dutchman joined the Blues from De Graafschap for a fee of £200,000 in January 1999, making 2007/08 his 10th season with the club. Wilnis says he is already considering who he might ask along for the game: “Players who I have played with like Olaf Lindenbergh [ex-De Graafschap, now with Ajax] and Martijn Reuser [currently with RKC Waalwijk] will be ones who will get a invitation. I hope some big players will also participate. For example, my agent personally knows Thierry Henry.” The Dutchman, 37 in August, has been a hugely popular figure at Portman Road since George Burley brought him to England halfway through the 1998/99 season as a replacement for Mauricio Taricco, who had moved on to Spurs. The Surinam-born full-back or centre-half has made 311 appearances for Town, scoring six goals. Get the fastest and most comprehensive Ipswich Town news service at ipswichtown.footballlatest.co.uk.
