Jeffers Staying Put Saturday, 21st Jul 2007 22:40 Cardiff City have withdrawn their interest in former Town loanee Franny Jeffers after being quoted a fee of £1 million by Blackburn and wages of £10,000-a-week by the player. Earlier in the summer the Blues agreed a lower fee with Rovers, but the deal collapsed due to the one-time England striker's wage demands. Town said their offer could have been worth more than his current deal at Blackburn, which has a year left to run. Rovers boss Mark Hughes says Jeffers will have a hard fight for a place in his team and that he will not allow him to go out on loan next season, perhaps nudging the ex-Everton, Arsenal and Charlton striker towards finding a new permanent home this summer: "He's still part of our plans, but it's just going to be a little bit more difficult for Franny to break through. "But he's here and he's our player and I won't be looking to send him out on loan. He'll be here and trying to get in the side." Jeffers, 26, scored four goals in seven starts and two sub appearances during a highly successful loan spell with Town at the end of last season.
