Wark of Fame
Wark of Fame

Town legend and former TWTD columnist John Wark is one of the first four players to be inducted into the newly created Town Hall of Fame. The other inductees are sixties strike pair Ray Crawford and Ted Phillips, and ex-skipper Mick Mills.

The quartet will be paraded to the crowd prior to Saturday's season opener with Sheffield Wednesday and will watch the match from an executive box.

Former players voted on who would be the first inductees at the annual players' reunion dinner earlier this year.

Wark, voted Town's greatest ever player by TWTD readers on an annual basis, says he was surprised to receive the accolade: “It was a huge surprise when the names were read out at the dinner.

“There have been so many great players who have worn the blue and white of Ipswich Town. In fact, every member of the 1980/81 side must have been in line.”

The Hall of Fame was an idea advanced by Bryan Hamilton and further names will be added to the scroll which will be kept at Portman Road on an annual basis.
