Town boss Jim Magilton slammed his players after yet another away defeat. The Blues were made to pay for innumerable errors at the back as Hull City comfortably defeated Magilton's side 3-1 at the KC Stadium.

Magilton said: "I'm bitterly disappointed. We started very bright and created chances. But we conceded three shockers from set-pieces and sloppy defending. If you defend like that you deserve to be punished - and we were.

"Too many of my players are comfortable in their home surroundings, but when it comes to rolling their sleeves up away from home, we were found wanting.

"If you want a realistic chance of doing any good in this division, you've got to pick up points away from home and we haven't.

"I want to apologise to the supporters because we were woeful in the second half. I was bitterly disappointed at the display and bitterly disappointed that our fans travelled a long way to watch that second half performance in particular.

"We were quick out of the blocks, were nice and bright and should have been ahead before they scored. We created other opportunities and if we had taken them it might have been a different story.

"There was plenty of bravado in the dressing room that we would get back in the game, but we didn't produce anything in the second half.

"Talk is cheap. We needed someone to go out there and grab the game by the scruff of the neck and make things happen, but there wasn't one player that did that.

"There will certainly be changes for the Burnley game on Tuesday night."

Hull manager Phil Brown was particularly pleased with two-goal hero Henrik Pedersen: "Henrik is looking stronger and fitter and if we can keep him on the field of play, he can score goals.

"You've got to take a punt every time you go into the transfer market and the punt on Henrik was that we were signing an ex-Premiership player, an injured ex-Premiership player.

"I've nothing but praise for him. He's a driven person and to get his first start in the league and score two league goals was testimony to his attitude.

"It was tough start and we rode our luck. It was too open in the first half for my liking, but our quality in front of goal was there for all to see. In the second half we were very professional."
