Billy Clarke, Owen Garvan and Shane Supple have been called into Republic of Ireland squads for games with Sweden and England. Garvan and Clarke are included in both parties, while Supple is in the squad facing Sweden.

Coach Don Givens explained why he has named separate squads for the friendly with Sweden and the European U21 Championship qualifier with England: “Given that it's a friendly, and also due to the fact that the Eircom League of Ireland and the lower divisions in England will be playing that weekend, we have brought in a few new faces for the Sweden game. It will be a good opportunity for the new lads to come in and show what they can do.”

Supple is yet to win an U21 cap having previously been withdrawn when called up at that level. Clarke has four U21 caps so far and Garvan one.

The Sweden game is in Uppsala on October 12th and the England match is four days later at Turner's Cross in Cork.
