![]() Tuesday, 2nd Oct 2007 09:19 A number of this morning's tabloids are linking Town with a loan move to Birmingham City striker Rowan Vine. The 25-year-old has failed to make a single Premier League appearance for his club this season. Vine, 6ft 1in tall, started his career with Portsmouth where he made a handful of appearances and had spells on loan at Brentford, Colchester and Luton. In July 2005 he made his move to Kenilworth Road a permanent one for £250,000 and did enough in the next 18 months to earn a switch to Birmingham for £2.5 million. The Basingstoke-born striker has made only 12 starts and seven sub appearances with the Midlanders, scoring once, and a loan looks likely at this stage of his career. Hull City have also linked been linked. Boss Jim Magilton has confirmed he is on the look-out for loan targets, although previously he was understood to be looking at centre-halves and left midfielders. However, with the Blues failing to score in their last three away games, it would be no surprise if the Town manager was to look for a player to repeat the impact Franny Jeffers made during his loan spell last season.
