![]() Thursday, 11th Oct 2007 22:46 Jordan Rhodes played for 16 minutes in an extraordinary match at the Kassam Stadium. The match was being covered by Setanta who had featured Oxford United five times already this season. Two draws and three defeats meant there'd been talk of a “TV hoodoo” in the local press. The on loan Town youngster took his seat on the bench as he saw the home team race into a 3-0 half time lead. Torquay United pulled one back and immediately the home fans became nervous and was reflected on the pitch itself. With 10 minutes left to play, Torquay pulled the match back to 3-2 and Oxford manager Jim Smith put the 17 year old Town loanee up front. He showed a couple of good touches and didn't do himself any harm at all with some good work at the by-line. In the dying minutes of the full time Oxford forced a couple of corners, the last a particularly poor delivery which was punted upfield and the away side levelled the match. The natives were very unhappy and booed the home team at every opportunity. Expectations were high at the “Kass Stad” and they find themselves at mid-table. Their facilities put some Championship grounds to shame but they've a lot of work to do to get promotion this season. Hopefully Jordan Rhodes will be able to put in a few good performances to get them on their way.
