Town boss Jim Magilton says the Blues need to put in 90-minute away performances like their second half display in the 2-0 defeat at Bristol City.

Magilton said: "We made a sloppy start and handed Bristol a foothold. We played much better in the second half, but their goalkeeper was brilliant and we didn't take our chances.

"We need to start with a different attitude because at the moment it is too easy for home teams playing against us.

"We need an 'over-our-dead-bodies' approach and it has to be from the first whistle.

"Our away form is poor and it may be becoming psychological because we are doing so much better on our own ground.

"I was pleased with our attitude in the second half. We passed the ball well and controlled possession.

"We had some great chances to get back in the game and their keeper did well. The players put some pride into the performance, but we can't afford to give teams a two-goal start.

"We knew they would come out fast after what's been said this week about the game between us at our place, yet we gave the lad time and space in the first five minutes to have a crack at goal.

"I have not seen the penalty incident yet. The referee was in a better position than me and gave handball against Alex Bruce. Whether it was a penalty or not, I don't know, but it was a bad goal to give away and then they have got a real foothold in the game.

"We had to get at them in the second half and with Pablo coming on, we changed things around and did that. We had the chances to get back in the game, but didn't take them and if you don't take your chances and give teams a two-goal start, there is only going to be one result.

"We have to find a 90-minute performance that matches the second half we showed tonight."

Magilton says Alex Bruce is a doubt for Saturday's trip to Charlton: "He's pulled his groin. Alex said he felt it go so he had to come off. We don't know how bad it is but we have an able deputy in Fabian."

Bristol City manager Gary Johnson was delighted to get revenge for the 6-0 defeat at Portman Road: "It's quite a turnaround in a few weeks and I'm proud of the lads for their first half performance.

"They didn't need any incentive after being beaten so heavily and right from the start there was a great level of commitment.

"Unfortunately, it was so intense that some legs went in the second half, but then we defended bravely and our goalkeeper did a great job.

"Overall, I'm thrilled with the performance and the fact that we have consolidated our position among the Championship leaders."
