Leicester Make Norris Bid

Leicester City are reported to have made a bid for Town target David Norris. Foxes boss Ian Holloway was until recently Norris's manager at Plymouth Argyle and was always expected to launch a bid for one his key players at Home Park.

The Pilgrims are reported to have turned down offers for both Norris and team-mate Barry Hayles.

Back in July, Town manager Jim Magilton revealed that he had made an enquiry to Plymouth regarding Norris: “I spoke to Ian Holloway about Norris but was rebuffed. It went to board level, but Plymouth made it clear he was not for sale, so that is the end of it for now.”

The 26-year-old has repeatedly been linked with a move to Town since news of Marcus Evans's takeover broke.

Norris started his career at Boston but moved on to Bolton for £50,000 in 2000. After failing to make a breakthough at the Reebok Stadium, he returned to York Street on loan, before moving to Hull for a similar spell.

Norris's career really took off after his £25,000 switch to Plymouth in 2002, featuring both on the right and in the centre of midfield. He has two years left on his current deal with the Home Park club indicating that they will look to offer him a new deal in January.

In the summer, Southampton made an unsuccessful £1 million bid for the Peterborough-born midfielder.

Meanwhile, former academy striker Steve Burton has joined Blue Square Conference North leaders Harrogate Town from Kettering.
