Town target David Norris was left out of the Plymouth line-up for their 3-2 FA Cup victory over Hull City this afternoon, prompting speculation that he may have been rested ahead of a move. Jon Walters's omission from the Town side has led to similar conjecture.

The Pilgrims' official site reports that Norris called in sick on the morning of the game. Earlier in the week Town had a bid of £1 million rising to £1.5 million turned down with a second bid expected, while other clubs — including Norwich City and Leicester - are also understood to be interested.

Jon Walters's absence from the Town team which lost to Portsmouth has unsurprisingly led to speculation that the striker was left out in order to avoid being cup-tied or picking up an injury.

Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce has been linked with a move for Walters since his days as Birmingham boss, while Sunderland, West Ham and Blackburn are also believed to have been eyeing the Republic of Ireland B international during his impressive first half of the season.

Walters is contracted to the Blues until 2010 and it is likely it would take an offer well in excess of £2 million for Town to allow this season's star man to move on. Chester are due 20% of the profit the Blues make on the £100,000 (plus any top-ups which have subsequently been triggered) they paid for Walters a year ago.

Meanwhile, a tabloid report claims the Blues are looking to sign Rangers out-of-favour midfielder Alan Gow on loan. TWTD first reported Town's interest in the former Falkirk and Airdrie man earlier in the week.

Elsewhere, ClubFanzine's Colchester United site, The U'sual is reporting that Luton's Chris Coyne has discussed personal terms at Layer Road after the clubs agreed a fee for the Australian central defender. Coyne is expected to complete his move to the U's after Luton's FA Cup tie against Liverpool on Sunday.

Earlier today Coyne was one of three Hatters players claimed to be interesting the Blues.
