Midfielder Owen Garvan has emerged as a doubt ahead of Saturday's home game with Stoke City. The Irish youngster is the latest member of the squad to have contracted flu.

Boss Jim Magilton said: “With just two days to go, Owen must be a doubt to face Stoke.

“We will keep a close eye on the situation and we are hopeful Owen will play.”

Tommy Miller is likely to be recalled to the side if Garvan fails to make it with Liam Trotter starting his three-game suspension at the weekend.

Jon Walters is over the illness which kept him out of the FA Cup tie with Portsmouth, while Jason De Vos is likely to be fine after missing the Pompey game due to a rib injury.

Meanwhile, West Brom midfielder Richard Chaplow, a player Magilton admitted he had been keeping an eye on earlier in the season, has joined Preston North End for a fee of £800,000, rising to a potential £1.35 million.

Town vice-president Richard Moore has been named a director of the Ipswich Witches speedway club.

Marcus Evans's takeover of Town saw Moore leave the board of the club, but he remains a director of the plc which has a 12.5% stake in the Blues.
