![]() Friday, 18th Jan 2008 15:05 Newspaper reports in Lancashire are linking Town striker Alan Lee with a return to former club Burnley. Lee is claimed to be the player the Clarets want to replace Andy Gray, who is on the verge of joining Charlton. Burnley are reported to be ready to spend £900,000 of the initial £1.5 million they are receiving for Gray on Lee, who was last at Turf Moor between July 1999 and November 2000. During that spell he scored one goal in four starts and 16 sub appearances, having signed from Aston Villa for £200,000. In the summer, Lee signed a new contract with the Blues aimed at keeping him with the Blues until the summer of 2009 after interest from Hull City. The Republic of Ireland striker is understood to be very happy living on the Suffolk-Essex border and a move would be a huge surprise. Back in the summer, boss Jim Magilton was very keen to keep Lee at Portman Road with the new deal cementing his place in the Town manager's squad.
