![]() Wednesday, 20th Feb 2008 10:23 Boss Jim Magilton has confirmed his loan interest in Portsmouth striker David Nugent. The frontman, rarely involved with Pompey since his summer move from Preston, was linked with a move to the Blues prior to the transfer window and again more recently. Magilton said: “Nugent is a possibility. We have asked Portsmouth about taking him on loan and they have not ruled it out. “It is a big decision for Portsmouth and it is a big decision for the lad but that has not stopped us making an enquiry.” Nugent, also linked with a loan return to Deepdale, is currently recovering from a hernia operation but has an excellent scoring record at Championship level and especially at Portman Road. The 22-year-old scored the winning goal as Portsmouth knocked the Blues out of the FA Cup in January. Magilton has also confirmed that he is looking for a defender on loan, although he wants a more experienced player than Newcastle's David Edgar. Last week, Edgar's agent said the Canadian had interested the Blues and other Championship clubs earlier in the season. The emergency loan window opened on February 8th, but from Friday the 93-day maximum loan period would stretch to the play-off final on Saturday, 24th May.
