Boss Jim Magilton has revealed that midfielder Gavin Williams has turned down an extension to his Town contract. The Town manager has also admitted that he would consider a loan move for the Welsh international.

The Blues spoke to Williams regarding a new deal early in the season and in September chief executive Derek Bowden told TWTD that a deal wasn't too far away.

However, it seems that negotiations have broken down since then with Magilton telling the club site: "Gavin has a year left on his current deal and we offered him an extra year but he turned it down."

The Blues boss is keen for the ex-West Ham and Yeovil man to play first team matches and that could lead to a spell on loan: "Gavin needs games and doesn't really want to play in the reserves.

"I can understand that. I didn't want to either as a senior player and, if a club rings up and asks about him, I will put the question to him. If it's right for Gavin and right for us, we will let him go out on loan.

"We've had no enquiries about him though, there have been rumours and speculation in the press but no solid contact.

"We know what a good player he is and he's only an injury or two away from being back in contention, but he does need games."
