Several Town players will have breathed a sigh of relief after the final whistle at Stoke City on Saturday. Five first team squad members were on four yellow cards but, with the trip to the Britannia Stadium Town's last match in February, they no longer need to be concerned that a fifth will result in a one-game ban.

Skipper Jason De Vos, defender Dan Harding, midfielders Gavin Williams and David Norris, and striker Danny Haynes have all been cautioned four times so far this season.

Prior to the end of February a fifth yellow card would have meant a caution but, from now until the end of the season, five bookings will result in a player merely receiving a warning regarding their future conduct.

In the unlikely event that any player Town player manages to amass 10 cautions before the second Sunday in April, they will be suspended for two matches. Further punishments are due if a player goes on a Thetis-esque card streak and reaches 15 or 20 cautions for the season.

The only Town player to receive a ban for five yellow cards this season is midfielder Gary Roberts, who is currently on loan at Crewe Alexandra.
