Jim: We Need to Win All Five
Jim: We Need to Win All Five

Boss Jim Magilton said his side need to win all five of their remaining fixtures to secure a play-off place after Saturday's disappointing 2-0 defeat at Colchester United.

Magilton said: "We need to win all five of our games now - we have two massive home games coming up and we have to win them both.

"Today was a poor result from our point of view. I don't think we took Colchester lightly.

"The lad Vernon has taken his goals very well - but they were two shocking goals for us to concede.

"We had some good chances but didn't take them and that came back to haunt us.

"It's a big disappointment for us, losing today, and we need a reaction. We started brightly but the first goal in any game is crucial and they got it.

"It was a bad goal to give away from our perspective, they were both soft goals.

"We had a lot of possession in the second half but we never really opened them up.

We didn't get enough shots in, didn't get enough crosses in for my liking.

"Their keeper made a good save from Jordan and one or two other saves as well but we never hurt them enough.

"The defeat obviously dents our play-off hopes, but we are still in there fighting and we need the players to stand up and be brave now. There is pressure of course, but as a player you have to deal with it. And we need to deal with it over the rest of the season."

Former Blue Geraint Williams was unsurprisingly delighted with his side's win: "It was a pleasing performance, but it was the result that was important today. In any derby to keep a clean sheet is great.

"Scott Vernon is probably the best finisher we have at the club and tactically he's excellent - I'm sure he'll score a lot of goals for us.

"It's still going to be very difficult for us but it's important we keep the nucleus of the squad together.

"We'll be looking to keep the players we want to keep and build for the future."
