U18s Lose Ten-Goal Thriller at Chelsea
U18s Lose Ten-Goal Thriller at Chelsea

Jack Ainsley scored twice and Reggie Lambe and Paul Murphy once as Town's U18s crashed to an extraordinary 6-4 defeat to Chelsea at Cobham on Tuesday afternoon. The Blues fielded a young side including several schoolboys.

Ainsley netted Town's first goal from the spot in the sixth minute - by which time Chelsea had already scored - and was unlucky not to have claimed a hat-trick.

Three minutes after adding his second and the Blues' third on 66, the Felixstowe-born striker won a penalty. However, as he was off the pitch receiving treatment for a knock received in winning the spotkick, Paul Murphy took over penalty duties and scored. Reggie Lambe netted his goal just before the half hour.

Ainsley and midfielder Jai Reason were Town's best performers during a ten-goal thriller in which both sides could have scored even more.

First team midfielder Sylvain Legwinski was amongst those watching the game from the Town bench.
