![]() Tuesday, 15th Apr 2008 16:13 Jordan Rhodes netted his 22nd reserves league goal of the season as the Town second string drew 1-1 with Colchester United at Layer Road this afternoon. The U's went ahead through Tom Webb in the 23rd minute, but Rhodes was on hand to put the Blues back on terms with 11 minutes remaining on the clock. Town only really woke up after their goal and could have scored more in the closing stages, sub Reggie Lambe amongst those coming close to grabbing the winner. Liam Trotter was probably the Blues' most impressive performer, although given the strength of their side, Town really ought to have won. Jordan Rhodes also did well when up against the experienced Adam Virgo, who at one point aimed an off the ball kick at the young striker. The reserves, who have already won the Pontin's Holidays Combination League East Division, have only the game away at Luton on April 29th left to play, plus a play-off against the winners of the Central Division on a date yet to be set. The likely opponents in that game are Charlton or Southampton. Reserves: Colgan, Clemo, Watson, Wilnis, Harding, Williams, Upson (Reason 75), Trotter, Roberts, Rhodes, Bowditch (Lambe 55). Unused: Plummer, Robinson, Ainsley.
