![]() Thursday, 8th May 2008 13:09 Midfielder Owen Garvan says he is delighted to have been included in the 28-man Irish squad for their first training camp with new manager Giovanni Trapattoni and two friendlies. Ireland face Serbia on May 24th at Croke Park and Columbia on May 27th at Craven Cottage. The 20-year-old told the club site: "It was a great honour to be picked for the provisional squad of 40, so I'm obviously delighted to make the last 28. That was my first target. "[Irish U21 coach] Don Givens told me that he was putting my name forward to Mr Trapattoni and hopefully it's a sign that I am making progress. "It should be a great experience and I'm really looking forward to it. With a new manager in charge, it's a chance for some of the younger players to make an impression." Garvan has won four U21 caps and also played for Ireland at several youth levels.
