Two Summer Portman Road Friendlies
Two Summer Portman Road Friendlies
Wednesday, 14th May 2008 12:15

Town are set to play two high profile pre-season friendlies at Portman Road this summer. Visits by a Premier League side and a continental club are likely to be part of the Blues' preparations for 2008/09.

The identities of the clubs involved are not yet known, although Lazio still owe Town one game from the deal which took Matteo Sereni to Rome in 2003. The Serie A side played the first of the two friendlies in 2006 when they ran out 2-0 victors over the Blues.

Away games at AFC Sudbury on Tuesday 5th August, Bury Town on Wednesday 9th July, Tiptree United on Thursday 24th July and Brentford on Friday 11th July have already been arranged, while there reportedly could be a trip to play a higher profile European friendly.

The Town squad are due back at Playford Road towards the end of June, although there will be a session prior to that earlier in the month when they start to get themselves back into shape after their summer break.

Boss Jim Magilton will be back at Portman Road this week, after a spell in Belfast, when he will talk to the out-of-contract Dean Bowditch, Sito and Nick Colgan regarding their futures.
