North Stand Ballot
North Stand Ballot
Wednesday, 11th Apr 2001 09:32

North Stand season ticket holders are receiving letters from the club askng them to vote whether they want to spend the whole of next season in the South Stand or move back to an uncovered North after a few games of the season.

The plan is still to demolish the existing North Stand as soon as possible once planning permission has been given. The new stand which will seat 7,400 will not be ready for the first games of the new season and fans will be relocated to the the South Stand upper tier for this period. The new North will re-open probably around October time, but will be roofless with only the back acquiring any cover towards the beginning of 2002.

Fans have two options in the vote. Option A voters will be wanting to return to the new North lower tier at the first possible opportunity and take advantage of a £38 discount for the inconvenience. Option B voters will want to stay in the cosy, covered surroundings of the South Stand all season at the same price as they would pay for their North Stand tickets.

However, the vote each individual does not decided his or her future. The letter says that a simple majority will decide the fate of the whole stand. If the majority want Option A then we all get Option A, if B, then B. Individuals will be able to move to the South on their own should Option A get the nod, but they will get no later priority should they wish to move back to the North.

If the majority choose Option B then the North Stand will be sold on a match to match basis for the rest of 2001/02 only.

TWTD's frontpage poll will be devoted to opinions on this and we will have a Town Topic up and running within the next hour or so which can be found here: http://www.twtd.co.uk/towntopics
