Friars Pleads Guilty

Town midfielder Sean Friars pleaded guilty to the charge of drink-driving in court yesterday. The Northern Irish player was arrested on Saturday in Beechcroft Road and was charged with a number of offences.

Friars was found to be three times above the legal limit for alcohol and will be sentenced at a later date. He also faces other charges, two counts of assault with intent to resist arrest, obstructing and restricting a police officer, failure to stop and driving without insurance. Another charge, driving otherwise in accordance with a driving licence, has been dropped.

The incident which led to these charges saw the winger hit a car owned by an off-duty policewoman. She followed him home and he was arrested. He has been banned from driving until the sentencing and appears again on May 17th.

Reports today claim that Falkirk's Mark Kerr would rather sign for Town than Leeds. Both clubs are in the hunt for the player and both have taken him on trial already this season.

The report has no actual quote from the player who is currently at Leeds completing a second trial. Falkirk have suggested that £500,000 would be enough for his services.
