Magilton Out to Improve Cup Record
Magilton Out to Improve Cup Record

Jim Magilton has vowed to improve the Blues' dismal Carling Cup record when his side take on Leyton Orient at Portman Road in the week beginning August 11th.

Town have gone out to lower division opposition in each of the last five seasons and most recently went beyond round two in 2002/03 when UEFA Cup qualification led to a bye to round three.

Magilton told the club site: "Our record has not been good in the competition lately and that's something we have to change.

"Orient will relish coming to Portman Road and trying to take the scalp of a club in a higher division and it will be an opportunity for their players to show they can cope with playing at a higher level.

"We will have to match their work ethic and commitment, but we are at home and we proved last season that we are a threat to any team at Portman Road."
