Bowden Confirms Enquiry to Burnley

Chief executive Derek Bowden has confirmed that the Blues made an enquiry to Burnley regarding striker Kyle Lafferty. Earlier today, Clarets chairman Barry Kilby revealed Town's interest in the Northern Irishman, who is set for a move to SPL giants Rangers.

Bowden told TWTD: "We did make an offer for Lafferty but Rangers came in and I believe the player was keen to go there."

According to Kilby, Town offered cash plus a player for 20-year-old Lafferty, whose move to Rangers for £3 million plus Alan Gow is in the process of being completed. The identity of the player the Blues were willing to swap is unknown, although Burnley were keen to sign Alan Lee during the last transfer window.

Town are looking for additions to their strike force over the summer with Belgian international Emile Mpenza again mentioned by his agent in connection with a move to Portman Road earlier today. The 30-year-old, released by Manchester City, appears to be more of a possible signing than a probable, with Bowden recently saying that the former Standard Liege man wasn't on Town's short list of striker targets.
