Wolfsburg Confirm Town Offer to Jentzsch

Wolfsburg manager Felix Magath has confirmed that Town offered keeper Simon Jentzsch a contract and that the 32-year stopper turned it down. Magath is frustrated with Jentzsch, who he hasn't played for seven months and who is firmly out of his plans.

Jentzsch is one of Wolfsburg's highest earners and appears to be willing to see out the remaining three years of his contract out of first team football. Wolfsburg have made him available for what is likely to be a small fee in order to remove him from their wage bill.

Magath appears to be increasingly fed up with the player's attitude: "It is his decision when he wants to do something else than playing football. We will fulfil our part of the contract 100%, I don't know whether he will do the same.

"At Ipswich, Jentzsch would have earned at least as much as he is on here at Wolfsburg. And still he says no.”

Jentzsch, whose agent has parted company with him, has also turned down the chance to join Trabzonspor and Antalyaspor in Turkey.

Town looked to Jentzsch and Preston's Andrew Lonergan after their move for Richard Wright appeared to have stalled due to uncertainties regarding Robert Green's future at West Ham. The Wright switch now seems to be back on with the Hammers' believed to be close to securing another glovesman.
