Midfielder David Norris is expected to join up with the Town squad in Belfast after being given good news regarding the heel problem he suffered at Brentford on Friday. Norris had feared he had aggravated the injury which underwent surgery over the summer, but a scan has put those concerns to rest.

Boss Jim Magiton told the club site: "It had nothing to do with the injury. David's had further scans and has been to see another specialist. Hopefully they'll now give him the green light to carry on with pre-season.

"It's a precaution more than anything. He is undergoing a bit of treatment in Ipswich and hopefully we'll be able to get him over here towards the end of the week."

Meanwhile, Marcus Bent's move from Charlton to Cardiff appears to have collapsed with the former Town striker now set to join Birmingham.

Ex-academy midfielder Ian Nimmo, the player involved in the controversy which saw Town's pre-season opponents Tiptree expelled from the FA Cup last season, has joined Scottish Second Division side Brechin City.
