![]() Sunday, 10th Aug 2008 20:14 West Ham United boss Alan Curbishley says he is considering offering Town target Ben Thatcher a contract. The 32-year-old has been on trial with the Hammers this week. Curbishley said: "We've a few injury niggles at the back and I am looking for some experienced cover. "Ben is steady, but he has a couple of clubs interested in him and I will have to have a think about it." Town offered the ex-Charlton man a deal after his trial at Portman Road but the former Wales international subsequently joined Wolves and then West Ham for trial spells. Meanwhile, David Nugent was left out of the Portsmouth 18 for today's Community Shield, which Pompey lost on penalties after a 0-0 draw.
