Former Town boss Sir Bobby Robson is one of 10 legends of English football to be inducted into the National Football Museum's European Hall of Fame. The selection panel chose five players and five managers on the basis of their achievements in European competition.

George Best, John Charles, Sir Bobby Charlton, Kenny Dalglish and Kevin Keegan are the chosen players, while Sir Bobby, Sir Matt Busby, Brian Clough, Bob Paisley and Sir Alex Ferguson are the managers.

The awards will be presented at a ceremony at the ACC Liverpool Echo Arena on 8th October as the National Football Museum's contribution to Liverpool Capital of Culture 08. Robson, who is fighting cancer for a fifth time, may not be well enough to attend the ceremony.

Town's UEFA Cup-winning boss was inducted into the domestic Hall of Fame in 2003, while Sir Alf Ramsey received the honour a year earlier.

The petition set up by TWTD Message Boarders calling for the North Stand to be renamed after Sir Bobby now has more than 2,000 ‘signatures'.
