A claim that former Arsenal skipper Tony Adams could be lined-up for the as yet not vacant manager's jobs at Ipswich or Charlton is the only mention of the Blues in Sunday's tabloids.

Adams, currently assisting Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth, was previously boss at Wycombe Wanderers between November 2003 and November 2004 during which time the Chairboys won only 12 games, however, the former England skipper is believed to be keen on a return to management.

Town have said on a number of occasions that current boss Jim Magilton has the backing of club owner Marcus Evans, chief executive Derek Bowden telling TWTD a fortnight ago: "Jim's not under any pressure other than the pressure he puts upon himself. Clearly he's a very passionate, committed man and he wants results to go our way from day one.

"He puts himself under pressure in terms of wanting the best performance from the team he puts out, but as far as external pressure from the owner or anybody else there's none.

"It's been made very clear to him that this is a ‘project' to get the club from this division to the next division over time. We don't expect to be promoted in four weeks or eight weeks or 12 weeks because there has been a lot of change over the summer and it will take time to gel, and Jim has that time. I don't know many teams which would bring in 11 players and immediately click.”

Elsewhere, former Blue Wayne Brown has been linked with a loan move to Derby County from Hull City.
