Clarke and Richards Face Replays

On-loan duo Billy Clarke and Matt Richards both face replays after Darlington and Brighton drew their FA Cup first round ties.

Clarke played for 48 minutes of Darlo's 0-0 draw with Blue Square Premier side Droylsden, while Richards and Brighton drew 3-3 with Hartlepool at the Withdean Stadium, having been two goals in front.

None of Town's other loan players with English clubs had been given permission to play in the competition.

Meanwhile, boss Jim Magilton has reiterated that the club are considering allowing Clarke to leave permanently, as first revealed by TWTD on Tuesday: "I would not do anything without having a conversation with the player first. So I will sit down and discuss it with the player and go from there.

"He is enjoying his football and benefiting from being there, even if it is at a lower level.

"It is the same with Dean Bowditch, who scored on his debut [for Brentford], and Liam Trotter, who is getting games and doing well. That is what the loan system is for.”

Elsewhere, Chris Casement was again omitted from the Hamilton side as they lost 2-0 at Motherwell. Earlier in the week, chief executive Derek Bowden told TWTD that the Blues are likely to send the Northern Irishman out on loan again in January, but to a club other than Hamilton, who have rarely played him since he moved there in August.
