As expected the FA have expelled Droylsden from this season's FA Cup for fielding an ineligible player in their rescheduled second round replay against Chesterfield last week. The Blues will now face the Spireites at Portman Road on Saturday.

The Blue Square North side fielded Sean Newton in the game despite the defender being suspended for reaching five bookings. Newton scored both goals in Droylsden's 2-1 over the League Two club.

Droylsden have until 9am tomorrow to lodge an appeal against the decision with a hearing provisionally set for tomorrow afternoon with the FA determined to get the third round tie played on Saturday as scheduled.

The visit of Chesterfield will see a return for ex-midfielder Darren Currie. Also in the Spireites squad at present is former Grimsby and Nottingham Forest striker Jack Lester, who has a colourful history when playing against the Blues.

In 2002/03 Lester was banned for three games for head-butting Jim Magilton during a game at the City Ground and the following season called referee Mick Fletcher a "spastic" after he was booked for diving at Portman Road.
