New Floodlights Go Up
New Floodlights Go Up
Monday, 14th May 2001 18:44

Today saw the beginning of the end for the existing floodlight towers at the Churchman's end of the ground. New brighter, whiter lights are going up on the pointy bits either side of the new stand (see http:www//twtd.co.uk/development to see what I mean).

The new lights will far exceed Premiership light requirements, levels that Town failed to match last season when they received a £5000 fine. The new lights will be 45 metres above the pitch and are rated at 2 kilowatts, double the old floodlight lamps and provide light to a power of 1000 Lux.

David Rose, the Club Secretary, said of the new lights: "This is the final stage of the revamped lighting system and we are all looking forward to seeing the results. Supporters will notice the difference with a whiter light rather than the yellow light from the old system."

The work will continue throughout the week. With all the work currently going on at Portman Road the public are not being admitted at present.
