![]() Saturday, 17th Jan 2009 09:02 Town are to give a trial to Theo Smith of Nottingham-based East Midlands Counties Football League side Dunkirk. The midfielder or striker will be with the Blues for two weeks. Smith, who was previously with Rolls-Royce Leisure, is also interesting Hucknall Town, who play in the Blue Square North. The Dunkirk website describes Smith as "a talent-and-a-half, has the lot, pace, fight, workrate and scores goals, but not the finished article yetâ€Â. The Blues have taken a number of non-league players on trial in recent years with Bury Town's Ian Miller winning a contract in 2006 before moving on to Darlington. Meanwhile, Doncaster Rovers have reportedly moved to sign Hibernian striker or midfielder Dean Shiels on a pre-contract agreement for 2009/10. Shiels, out of contract at the end of this season, is a player understood to be interesting Town, while Rangers, Bristol City and Plymouth have also been linked.
