Boss Jim Magilton says more of the club's fringe players could go out on loan. Dan Harding joined Reading earlier today, becoming the seventh member of the squad on a spell away from Portman Road.

Magilton told the club site: "It's important that we get players out and playing football and we are talking to clubs about taking on some of our other young players here.

"Ed Upson has been spending the week with Southend and we'd like to find him some first team football and it's the same with Jai Reason.

"Playing reserve team football is of no real use for lads like Ed and Jai now, they need to taking the next step and that means playing in league games week-in, week-out."

Both Upson and Reason are out of contract at the end of the season. Upson's senior experience so far is a 10-minute sub appearance for Stevenage during a month at Broadhall Way earlier in the season, while Reason is yet to play any part in a first team game.

In addition to Harding, Billy Clarke is at Northampton, Richard Naylor with Leeds, Jordan Rhodes at Brentford, Chris Casement with Wycombe, Jaime Peters at Gillingham and Kurt Robinson with Rushden and Diamonds.

Meanwhile, Portuguese trialist Lino Goncalves will not be offered a deal by the Blues. The former Fulham trainee will return to the Glenn Hoddle Academy having played two reserve games and spending a fortnight at Playford Road.
