Departing veteran Richard Naylor says he was proud to have been an Ipswich Town player. Naylor left the Blues after 15 years earlier today on a free transfer, signing a two-and-a-half year deal with Leeds United.

Naylor told the club site: "I'm proud to have played for Ipswich Town, it's a fantastic football club.

"I had some great times at the club and it was always going to be hard to leave. The fans were fantastic to me and helped me through when I was a young player and I'd like to thank them and the people at the club for all their support down the years.

"There are so many highlights to pick out from looking back over the years, scoring at Wembley in the play-off final is obviously one but I think the whole season when we came fifth in the Premier League and qualified for the UEFA Cup stands out above the rest. There was an amazing spirit between the players and a great atmosphere about the place in general.

"I've had 15 years at Ipswich and it does feel strange knowing that I'm now playing for another club, but everyone knows what Leeds means to me. They are my hometown club, I supported them as boy and it's always been a dream of mine to play for them.

"When Jim spoke to me and told me that I wouldn't be playing games here, I knew I would probably have to move on, especially with my contract up in the summer and when he asked me if I fancied a loan move to Leeds, it was too good a chance to turn down.

"It's funny how it has worked out with me coming back to my home town, but I feel I have given Ipswich decent service over the years and now I'm looking forward to my time at Leeds.

"Ipswich will always be an important part of my life though. It's been my home for 15 years and I wish the club every success in the future."

Meanwhile, former Blue Lewis Price has joined Luton Town on a month's loan from Derby County.
