Young Town midfielder Ed Upson played the second game of his trial spell with Southend United on Wednesday afternoon.

Upson, who scored the winning goal in the 2005 FA Youth Cup final, played the full 90 minutes as the Shrimpers second string lost 2-0 at Leyton Orient.

The 19-year-old was in a Southend XI which drew 2-2 at Canvey Island at the end of January, in which he scored both their goals, and has been with the Roots Hall club ever since.

The former academy player's Town contract is up at the end of the season and he looks set to leave Portman Road.
