Bruce: I'm Happy at Town

Defender Alex Bruce says too much has been made of his contract situation and he isn't planning on leaving Portman Road. Bruce's current terms are up at the end of the season and he has turned down the Blues' offer of a new two-year deal.

The Irish international defender said: "I am not going anywhere. A lot of people have made big things about my contract situation, but I am more than happy working with the manager and coaching staff here.

"I am enjoying every day and just want to get this football club doing well.”

Meanwhile, assistant manager John Gorman has refuted suggestions of disharmony amongst the squad: "I've been in lots of dressing rooms where you can detect there's a problem straight away.

"But that's definitely not the case here. It's a happy ship and those not in the team understand the situation.

"Their professionalism has shone through and everyone at the club is still 100 per cent behind manager Jim Magilton.”

Elsewhere, Gillingham boss Mark Stimson says he is not yet sure whether Town winger Jaime Peters will stay with his club beyond his current one-month loan deal.

Peters and Arsenal youngster Rene Steer end their spells after this Saturday's game against Macclesfield and Stimson wants to keep the duo, but says Peters is considering whether or not to remain in Kent: "One is very keen and the other is not so keen.

"Jaime has probably played more football [during his month with the Gills] but not as much as he would have expected and so it's going to be their decision. Rene I think will [stay], but Jaime I'm not too sure.”

Peters, who is contracted to the Blues until the summer of 2010, has made one start and two sub appearances while at the Priestfield Stadium.
