Author Nick Fuller has received a message of support and thanks from Sir Bobby Robson after using his book On the Map – A Fan's View of Sir Bobby Robson and Ipswich Town to raise funds for the former Town boss's cancer charity.

The book is available for download for free from Nick's website in return for a donation to The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

Robson's PA recently contacted Nick to tell him that the ex-England manager was delighted to hear about the book: "Just to let you know that I spoke to Sir Bobby about your website and he asked me to thank you very much indeed for the link to our charity. Hopefully, it will encourage people associated with his Ipswich days to dig deep and donate to this wonderful cause.”

Nick was thrilled that his book had Sir Bobby's backing: "It was fantastic to hear from Sir Bobby and to know that he's aware of what we Town fans are trying to do for the Foundation.

"I hope that all of us will pull together to make our contribution really significant. The donations are already coming, as can be seen on the Just Giving site, which is a great feeling.”

On the Map – A Fan's View of Sir Bobby Robson and Ipswich Town charts the 13 years of Sir Bobby's reign at Portman Road from a supporter's perspective, but Nick says he has also used other accounts of the era to produce what he hopes is an interesting account of Town's most successful era: "I've tried to mix my personal memories with the facts of the day to produce something which is, I hope, evocative for those of us who were there and informative for those who weren't.”

The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation raises money for the detection and treatment of cancer within Sir Bobby's native North-East. The Foundation's initial target of £1 million has already been surpassed thanks to the support of Sir Bobby's admirers from all over the UK and Europe.
