Tottenham striker Giovani Dos Santos has joined the Blues on loan until the end of the season. The 19-year-old signed for Spurs from Barcelona for an initial fee of £4.7 million rising to a potential £8.6 million in the summer.

The Mexican international striker, who has scored one goal in only five starts and seven sub appearances since signing a five-year deal with the Premier League side in the summer, will be in the squad for Saturday's game at Reading if the paperwork is completed by noon tomorrow.

Born in Monterrey, Dos Santos started his career with hometown team Club Monterrey before joining Barcelona ahead of the 2007/08 season. During his year with the Catalan giants he scored three goals in 28 appearances.

Capped 11 times at full level, Dos Santos was hailed as the second best player at the U17 World Cup in 2005 as his side carried off the trophy. He also impressed athte U20 World Cup in 2007.

Dos Santos's Brazilian father Gerardo played under the name Zizinho in Mexico in the later 1980s and his brother Jonathan is with Barcelona.
