Town Sign Saints Keeper and Supple Moves to Oldham
Town Sign Saints Keeper and Supple Moves to Oldham

Town have signed Southampton keeper Bartosz Bialkowski on loan for the rest of the season. The move allows Shane Supple to join Oldham Athletic for a similar period.

Pole Bialkowski, 21, began his career with Gornik Zabrze in his home country before signing for the Saints in January 2006.

Injury has prevented the 6ft 3in tall Braniewo-born keeper from making more than 21 appearances for Southampton along with the form of ex-Town keeper Kelvin Davis.

Saints coach Mark Wotte explained why he is allowing Bialkowski to leave: "We have a few goalkeepers in the squad at the moment with Kelvin Davis, Tommy Forecast, Michael Poke and Andrej Pernecky also in contention, so I can't guarantee Bartosz any football at this moment.

"He was getting a little impatient, so to be fair to him it will be good for him to go somewhere where he can be a little more involved and then if we need him we can recall him."

Bialkowski, who has been capped at U20 and U21 levels by Poland, will join up with the Town squad on Thursday, while Shane Supple will travel to Oldham after tonight's game with Burnley and will make his debut for the Latics at home to Tranmere on Saturday.
