Town have announced a rethink on the cost of five-year season tickets after TWTD's recent report in which a fan slammed what he saw as the unfair pricing of his seat for the next five years. A fortnight ago, Phil Taylor told TWTD that he felt the club were taking advantage of loyal supporters.

Town initially based the five-year season ticket price on the early bird rate available to first time season ticket renewers, rather than the cheaper price for season ticket holders who have renewed early for the last two seasons.

That meant that five-year season ticket holders with a North Stand lower tier seat, would pay £1960 for their new tickets rather than £1840.

However, after the piece on TWTD and letters and emails from a number of five-year season ticket holders, chief executive Derek Bowden revealed a change of heart: "We've reconsidered. We wanted to go in one direction, but we've decided to revert and go back to the lower price.

"Those who have already paid we'll rebate and those who were undecided due to the pricing differential, hopefully they'll decide in favour. We've listened and it's the right thing to do. It's the fairer way to do it.”

Taylor, one of 55 five-year season ticket holders, told TWTD that he is very happy with the outcome: "As a five-year season ticket holder I am very pleased that our continued support has been recognised and the situation has been resolved to our satisfaction.”

Bowden says overall season ticket sales are going well as the Blues aim to match last year's total of around 15,500: "It's early, but they are going in roughly than same fashion in which they went last year. The key period is the week before the early bird date [April 4th] when you get a spike, but they're pretty much the same as last year.

"Around 5% are new season ticket holders, albeit from a low base, but that's still interesting and again is the same as last year.

"We don't know how many have tailed off and we won't know that until the end of the campaign. At the moment, the majority are using the eight-month debit, which is not surprising.”

Bowden says the club weren't keen to replicate Norwich's longer credit scheme which stretches into next summer: "We wanted it to run through the season, we didn't want to go beyond the season.

"I know Norwich do a 12-month scheme and they have an automatic renewal as well, which we don't have in place. We've gone from three cheques in four months to eight months, keeping it in the season, which we thought was logical.”
