Full-back David Wright says is hopeful he will be OK to line-up in his usual right-back role when the Blues face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday. The former Crewe and Wigan man suffered a hamstring injury in Town's game against Watford a fortnight ago.

Wright told TWTD that his fitness will be assessed after Friday training: "I've got a hamstring injury that I picked up before the international break. I've trained for the last couple of days and it's been all right, so on Friday I'll sit down with the physios and see how things are.”

The 28-year-old says there are no thoughts that Town's season has already come to an end amongst the players: "No one in the club is talking about the season being over, there's six games left.

"People are saying we're seven points adrift, but I remember sitting in this room a month or so ago and people were saying the same thing and we instantly ate into that gap in the next three games. We need to do exactly the same thing again.

"We've been very good away, particularly against the teams around us. Against Wolves and Reading people didn't give us much hope, but we played very, very well in both games and took four points. So, we're very confident going into Saturday's game and are looking for maximum points.”

Wright is as perplexed as everyone else when asked why the Blues do so well away but have picked up so few wins at home: "That is the million dollar question! I think a lot of teams all the way through every single league will have certain questions like that.

"It's something which we've been working on very, very hard all season to put right. We've got six games and we'll try and make the most of it.”

Wright has fond memories of playing one of his earliest matches for Crewe at Bramall Lane: "Many, many moons ago, I made one of my first away appearances for Crewe at Sheffield United. I was 18, nearly 11 years ago now. Dean Saunders was on my wing. I enjoyed the game, it was on Sky I think and we got beaten 3-1.

"It's a nice ground with a big pitch and it's normally a good surface, so I'm looking forward to it.”
