Steven Cheeseman, the Blues supporter who was awakened from a coma after hearing tapes of commentaries on Town games, sadly died on Easter Monday. Steven, 43, received widespread coverage in February when his mother, Maggie, wrote his story for the Ipswich ‘Til I Die book.

The Trust have released a statement on behalf of the family: "Ipswich Town Independent Supporters Trust are extremely saddened to announce that we received a call from Maggie Cheeseman to inform us that her son Steven passed away on Easter Sunday.

"Steven's story was highlighted during the build up to the launch of the Ipswich Til I Die book back in February of this year, which led to a fantastic response from Ipswich Town supporters and the wider Suffolk community

"The St John's Ambulance offered assistance in getting Steven to the launch night from hospital in Coventry and although Steven was not well enough to attend, many members of the Cheeseman Family made the journey.

"The family have expressed their sincere gratitude for all the support from the Suffolk community, Radio Suffolk and the St John's Ambulance.

"Ipswich Town Football Club have agreed to Steven's wish for some of his ashes to be interred at Portman Road, a gesture which is greatly appreciated by the Cheeseman family.”
