Brentford manager Andy Scott says he wants both Billy Clarke and Jordan Rhodes at Griffin Park next season. The duo spent loan spells with the Bees during 2008/09 and helped Scott's side to the League Two title.

The Brentford boss says he is keen to sign Clarke, released by the Blues at the end of the season, on a permanent basis: "Billy is one of the centre-forwards I'm interested in. I spoke to him at the end of last season, and we're monitoring what's happening with him."

Clarke scored 18 goals for three loan clubs last season, including six goals in eight games for the Bees.

League Two Notts County have already made the Irish U21 international an offer, while Championship Sheffield Wednesday appear to be the favourites for his signature. League One sides Norwich City and Oldham, now managed by Dave Penney who was Clarke's boss during his earlier spell at Darlington, are also believed to be in the hunt for the Cork-born striker, while League Two Lincoln City are the latest side linked.

Scott is also keen on Jordan Rhodes rejoining his club on another loan spell: "I've made it clear I'd like to have Jordan back, and he's said he wants to give it a go at Ipswich.

"He's still getting over his foot injury, so we'll wait and see if that's possible for him there when it's cleared up."

Rhodes, who is contracted to Town until 2011, netted seven goals in 14 games for the Bees before breaking a metatarsal in March, leading to Clarke's spell at Griffin Park as his replacement.

Meanwhile, Cambridge United assistant manager Paul Carden says he is confident that released Town midfielder Jai Reason will sign the contract he has been offered at the Abbey Stadium: "I think Jai is quite keen to stay and [manager] Gary [Brabin] remaining at the club is a good pull, not just for him but a few of the other lads whose contracts were up. So that's all positive news.

"Hopefully, as soon as Gary gets back, Jai will get signed up pretty quickly, because he's a player we want to bring on and help develop further.

"He's a player who wants to get better and improve himself, and that's a good sign, but that sums up the strong mentality of the squad."

Reason spent the last four months of the season on loan with Cambridge and played in their Blue Square Premier play-off final defeat to Torquay.

Elsewhere, former Blue Sam Parkin is not ruling out a return to Swindon, the club he left to join Town in the summer of 2005 for £450,000: "I think I'd be stupid to turn my nose up at anything, especially in the predicament I find myself in. I'd listen to all offers. Everyone knows the affection I've got for the club.

"You always look out for your old side, they are always going to be one of the first results I look for and I was pleased they managed to stay up.”

Parkin recently left Luton following their relegation from League Two after an injury-hit spell at Kenilworth Road and is keen to find another club in the Football League.
